many of you might know that i am a big fan of LOST. in the recent episodes, desmond hume (played by henry ian cusack) is sporting a pair of sunglasses that are awesome. they are thick on the sides and a cool metal finish on the front with deep maroon/purple see-throughs

i love denzel washington. he is by far my most favorite actor. one movie i have watched multiple times and had fun is "remember the titans". however i dint associate him with the movie. its more of a team movie.
however watching it again on this wonderful Wednesday afternoon, i just realised hayden panettiere is in the movie playing the associate head coach's daughter. the movies isnt over yet but she already put in a great little shift.
now i am actually looking forward to the movie again. i remember a few scenes like when she meets denzel's daughter.
i remember it being a fun movie.
here's to the upcoming football season.

i cant ever get he dhcp working with the default ip address for the Cisco 1130 AG. so instead i use the IPSU utlity from cisco. it works like a charm although it doesnt always show a confirmation. you might have to create a login to download the software.

alright!!
i spent an afternoon trying to setup this access point. after a few frustrating hours i succeeded and wanted to make sure other people don't have the same problems.
the AP LAN is run by power over Ethernet (PoE). i was using a linksys router to route the ip address for the web interface config tool. thats doesnt work. the dhcp for some reason (for the lan option of the AP) doesnt show up in the clients list.
Instead, setup PoE and then use the LAN on your client to "use the following ip adrress" to 10.1.1.5 with subnet 255.0.0.0. Connect the ethernet cable to your laptop and the other end to the WAN of the AP. The default ip address for the java based web interface is 10.1.1.1 with subnet 255.0.0.0. use IE to login.
that should be straight forward from now on.

i love watching the Oscars. i love movies. one of the things i look in retrospect to is the "in memorial". the actors who passed away this year always puts me in a mournful and sorrow mood. last year was especially hard. i am beginning to realize that i know more and more of the people on that screen. i have been on this earth for 27 years and that is time enough (with my voracious appetite for movies) to have a seen a bunch of them.
Brittany Murphy, Michael Jackson, Patrick Swayze were this year's people who i knew well from movies and popular cinema. Last year was the joker from batman (heath ledger) and a year before that was peter boyle.

On a more joyous note, I also love how this year the sound has been given a more important role. I think it is very important and in my eyes (no pun intended) plays a more crucial part in the experience of cinema. I try to watch a movie at least once a week. More often it is 3-5 movies a week. and Soundtracks make me more happy than anything else.

denzel washington is one of my most, if not the most, favorite actors. he does a great job in crimson tide, playing the underdog, with a subtle sense of independence. my favorite scene in the movie is the one in the officers canteen, where all the officers are talking about war. when the captain, gene hackman, is grilling denzel about his thought on war, the above quotes show up. both are timeless and are very deep. keeps the mind rolling and the crew silent!!

dear mary,
i would like to sincerely thank you and your team for the wonderful job you perform at six flags. this previous saturday, while enjoying the thrilling rides, i lost my phone when it dislodged from my pocket and fell down. to make matters worse it was my first ride of the day and i had a whole day planned out with pictures from the phone etc.

so im grateful to all you staff who might have helped find it - "from the superman ride attendant" (who told what to do next) to "the lady at the lost and found" (who had to endure my constant question through the day for the phone) to "the lady on the phone" (who told it had been found and was mailed to me to you (who sent me the very well packed phone).

to show eveyrthing ended well - the phone turns on and charges. i am able to make calls and everything is back to normal. life moves on.

in a trip to the six flags great America park in Chicago, i accidentally dropped the phone out of a ride. the ride's called superman and it straps the body onto the chair including legs so you are parallel to the ground as you take off.

in the build up to a 360, the phone got dislodged from my pocket and dropped off. me, parik and mani in one row and the archita, dave, anush and khagen in the second row could all see it fall off. i did not realize what it was until a second instant and then it was beautiful to watch fall. my heart was in my mouth from fear of losing the phone but the sight was wonderful. everything slowed down, and we could see the phone roll over and turn in the air as it was about to hit the ground. that was when i lost sight of it.

for four days of painful waiting i did not know whether it was lost or found, in one piece or seven. today i got it back. there are a few cracks at the bottom side, but otherwise the phone look intact. i am going to write a thank ou note to the security staff who retrieved it and mailed it back safe. it would be awful if the phone survived the ride and broke in the mail system.

after a lot of delibration, thought and sweat i have decided to buy the apple mac book pro 13.3"
i know ill sound hypocritical saying this but i actually like the hardware
the software i do not know and it will be a new learning experience
the thing that pushed me over is the deal with the ipod touch and printer free
the thing that tempted me was the freedom of switchign to windows if i dint like the mac software.
the thing that got me closer to temptation is virtualbox

The three distinct groups of people that define the lifetime of a company: Commandos, Infantry, and Police:
1.    Whether invading countries or markets, the first wave of troops to see battle are the commandos. Woz and Jobs were the commandos of the Apple II. Don Estridge and his twelve disciples were the commandos of the IBM PC. Dan Bricklin and Bob Frankston were the commandos of VisiCalc. Mitch Kapor and Jonathan Sachs were the commandos of Lotus 1-2-3. Commandos parachute behind enemy lines or quietly crawl ashore at night. A start-up's biggest advantage is speed, and speed is what commandos live for. They work hard, fast, and cheap, though often with a low level of professionalism, which is okay, too, because professionalism is expensive. Their job is to do lots of damage with surprise and teamwork, establishing a beachhead before the enemy is even aware that they exist. Ideally, they do this by building the prototype of a product that is so creative, so exactly correct for its purpose that by its very existence it leads to the destruction of other products. They make creativity a destructive act.

2.    Grouping offshore as the commandos do their work is the second wave of soldiers, the infantry. These are the people who hit the beach en masse and slog out the early victory, building on the start given them by the commandos. The second-wave troops take the prototype, test it, refine it, make it manufacturable, write the manuals, market it, and ideally produce a profit. Because there are so many more of these soldiers and their duties are so varied, they require an infrastructure of rules and procedures for getting things done -- all the stuff that commandos hate. For just this reason, soldiers of the second wave, while they can work with the first wave, generally don't trust them, though the commandos don't even notice this fact, since by this time they are bored and already looking for the door.

3.    What happens then is that the commandos and the infantry head off in the direction of Berlin or Baghdad, advancing into new territories, performing their same jobs again and again, though each time in a slightly different way. But there is still a need for a military presence in the territory they leave behind, which they have liberated. These third-wave troops hate change. They aren't troops at all but police. They want to fuel growth not by planning more invasions and landing on more beaches but by adding people and building economies and empires of scale. AT&T, IBM, and practically all other big, old, successful industrial companies are examples of third-wave enterprises. They can't even remember their first- and second-wave founders.

I finished reading this book. very interesting. style of writing is very detailed. every scene is describe din detail

i am surprised that i found it hard to finish. the book is very interesting but i think my capability to read classics such as this has been lost. its been lost in all those thriller books which cant wait to jump from one action scene to another.i love the story, i hated the stykle of reading.

i guess im finding hard to read books which are not direct to a point. books that describe a everyday scene. i look for purpose and direction in every statement made. i feel the lack of efficiency disturbing.

my point is i shouldnt. i should be able to read these so called classics. i used to like them

i am going to try to read more classics in order to bring the ability ive lost. more oscar wilde, more leo tolstoy, more shakespeare if necessary.

this does not mean i will read this even if find this painful. i am trying to reassociate the noggin to respond to more pre1900's style of writing. it will be an effort for some limited time

i somehow got a thought in my mind i thought i should share.
im thinking ms has decided to make their next os open-source or semi open source.
it would make perfect sense since there is a major change in the way ms work now. gates is retired. he's in a sort of a evangelist role. the new lead team have a new approach. they will try to coalition with linux and other open source vendors. they see the approaching threat of apple and are getting ready to counter it. the windows 7 blog is a lot more user friendly. its approach is what brought me into this direction.

This was 1993. A man stood on lush green grass. Dressed in a casual bowler hat and black trousers, he wouldn’t have otherwise caused a curious glance. But this was not normal. He did not want to be here. He knew beyond that large wall, there was an ocean and he could hear the waves hitting the coast all morning. That’s where he, Mitchley, wanted to be.

He turned around; he could see distinctly, two – no, make that three, people rushing up to him. Where there were three, there would be more. He sighed. He had been in similar situations, but there was something different about this. He knew it would happen. He dint like it. He had been instructed prior to the assignment about this one specific case. He definitely dint like it. He thought for just a second.

Raising both his arms, he put them together in a manner he had practiced the night before. Were someone to describe what his posture looked like, it would seem he were pointing; curiously enough with both his hands. He put the index fingers together and separated them. He continued the gesture feeling very awkward. He brought them down and brought them together again. Somehow he felt he lost his independence.

He glanced at his pal, Liebenberg. Although he could not see him, he knew he would be there; waiting for this particular moment. But this was not a circumstance to think of him as a pal. It would be inappropriate. Anxiously he waited.

One of the persons who were running towards him patted him on the shoulder and smiled.

“Well, what happens next?”

“We wait”, replied Mitchley

They glanced at that group gathering and particularly at one man. He was short. It would turn out that wasn’t his most descriptive feature. They turned and stared at the newly installed “machine”. More of a contraption – thought Mitchley. They looked just like traffic lights.

Finally, a roar from the group closest to him. Mitchley raised his hand and pointed to the sky. No one looked up. The short man was walking away. The short man is Sachin Tendulkar.

Emmanuel Adebayor might have been unlucky to get sent off but his reaction was completely unacceptable

The Carling Cup final was a fascinating, intense game of football until it boiled over into a brawl which started over nothing.

Kolo Toure reacted badly to being pulled back by Mikel Jon Obi and before you knew it there were 12 or 14 players involved and the two managers.

Frank Lampard came in to try to calm it down but then ended up getting involved with Cesc Fabregas, who only seemed to exacerbate the situation.

Under normal circumstances, you wouldn't advocate managers entering the field of play but I actually thought they did quite well and the situation seemed to calm down after they came on.

I thought Mikel was very unlucky to be sent off. He did tug Toure's shirt and he could have expected a booking for that but he didn't seem to do much wrong apart from that.

I don't know what Emmanuel Adebayor did and he may have been extremely unlucky too, but that does not excuse his reaction.

He refused to leave the pitch and that is completely unacceptable in a major final.

Arsenal had a young side out there and what happens with young players is they get tired more quickly - both physically and mentally.

And their frustration was understandable: they dominated the game for a long time, they had taken the lead and they could have gone two up.

And it was down to Arsenal's inexperience that Chelsea scored their winner as the Gunners gave the ball away as they tried to play their way out of defence.

Drogba got in front of Philippe Senderos to head in Arjen Robben's cross - and the Swiss defender has come in for some criticism after his performance.

It was the 22-year-old who played Drogba onside for Chelsea's equaliser but I wouldn't be too hard on him.

Drogba has got the better of Senderos every time they have met and as a defender myself, I know how difficult a situation that is.

He was unlucky for the first goal because you couldn't fault his positioning and for the second, I think you have to give an enormous amount of credit to Drogba for a brilliant piece of movement and a wonderful header.

I don't think Senderos played nearly as badly as Andriy Shevchenko and Michael Ballack did but because Chelsea won, those two performances have been ignored.

Wenger has already shown a lot of faith in Senderos and given his record with young players, who are we to argue with his judgement?

I don't think it's great for the competition when clubs don't select their strongest side but it is difficult to have any complaints about Wenger's policy when you see how close they came to winning the cup.

They beat Everton, Liverpool and Tottenham and then more than matched the double league champions, who were almost at their strongest.

If Arsenal had won, it would have been one of the greatest managerial achievements we have seen in the English game.

Even in defeat, it still goes down as a remarkable feat by Wenger and his young players.
